Family Counselling

Family forms an important part of the social fabric and support system. It has an incredible impact on individuals’ conduct and mental state.  As a result, the family is vital in being part of the treatment and therapeutic process involving an individual with physical, emotional or mental illness. It does not imply that all family members are patients. Nonetheless, when one individual from the family. has a difficult issue and if that influences the remainder of the family, family counselling is the most ideal alternative. At the point  When an individual is dysfunctional, divorced, addicted or mentally is affected, the stigma is not restricted to the individual alone, but to family members/caregivers also. Family therapy is an ideal counselling method for helping family members adjust to an immediate family member struggling with an addiction, medical issue, or mental health diagnosis

The aim of family therapy is to help family members find ways to help each other to function well, whether the problem is believed to be a personal issue or a family issue. Family therapy is used to address family conflicts by improving the communication and interaction of its members. It examines how a person’s behaviour affects both the individual and their relationship as part of a couple or family. It usually involves multiple family members.

In family therapy, a therapist works with families and those friends or relatives in close relationships who experience problems.  The therapist explores family members’ views and relationships to understand the problems they are having. He aids family members to communicate better with each other. Family therapy can help families to change, develop and resolve conflict.
